Today the number of site visitors reached 100 000. Of course, it is comparatively small, but there is something encouraging about this number that makes the author keep on his creative path.

The long awaited English version of the site has been finaly launched! Now the rest of the world, non-Russian speaking cartoon lovers may enjoy Russian humour, which I will try to explain as best as I can.

Starting October 1st 2003 I finally became a free-lance artist. Gone are the days of 8 to 5 routine trudge in the office in exchange for a regular pay-check. The prospect of free-lancing opens up new horizons, new opportunities and, naturally, new challenges. :-) But it is indeed an incredible joy to be doing what I really love!

The short pause in the work of renewing and replenishing the site is over. While the sun was gladdening human hearts with warm days of July and August, the author took a little break from drawing new caricatures and had a fairly weighty reason for doing so: all that time he was in the middle of much exhausting but happy ado of getting ready for his very own wedding and honeymoon – all of which (the preparation, not the wedding!) left him in the condition dangerously near to collapse and almost certifiable insanity. I heartily thank everyone who sent us (my wife Sveta and myself) their congratulations. For all who would like to take a look at the pictures, I will be opening a section with the wedding photo gallery in the nearest future. Meanwhile I am back at the usual stand and very much ready to roll.

Several caricatures from archive files added to “Insects” and “Sheep” sections.

A new section on “Insects” opened in the Caricature Gallery. Not that it is anything terribly new for the authors of “Tourists’ Shrieks”. I simply never got around to placing it all on the web before.

A couple of new drawings about Swiss family life in the “Portfolio” section. A little explanation for those of you who are trying to keep track of new additions to this series: these drawings portray an “average” Swiss family in the process of getting a loan for purchasing a house in Switzerland. The drawings were commissioned by the PostFinance Company in Bern.

The “Portfolio” section got a new addition. The Financial Capital bank commissioned me to design the cover for the videocassette “People of Petersburg: an Anthology” which was a joint project between the bank and the “Russia” TV Channel

Hey, where are the two shivering sheep lost in the mountains? From now on, instead of this old and all too familiar sheep drawing, on the left side of the menu there will be rotating banners which will take you to respective sections of the “Tourists’ Shrieks” caricature album.

A new section on the site: Photo Gallery (which would be news for those who have not noticed the banner on the main page). At this point you will find there pictures of our glorious city on the Neva. I strongly recommend you not to miss this short but rather exciting walk through St. Petersburg – it will be especially interesting for those who are used to thinking of St. Pete’s as a city of canals, bridges and such stereotypically glamorous facade views as St. Isaac’s or the Hermitage. There are things here which make us pause (now where did I hear this before?) – something you will never find in glossy souvenir picture books sold to tourists who have no time to stop and really look.
